💡 Lighting & Flow Requirements
The Black Torch Neon Tip prefers moderate to high light (PAR 100–250), and thrives under quality LED, T5, or hybrid lighting setups. Strong blue spectrum lighting enhances its neon tips for maximum fluorescence.
Provide moderate, indirect water flow. Excessive direct flow can cause retraction and stress, while too little flow may lead to detritus buildup. The goal is gentle sway, not blast.
🍽 Feeding & Growth
Although photosynthetic, Euphyllia glabrescens benefits from supplemental feeding. Feed 1–2 times per week to promote growth and polyp extension.
Recommended foods:
- Reef roids
- Mysis shrimp
- Coral pellets
- Liquid coral food or amino acid blends
Target feeding with a pipette is recommended for best uptake.
🧪 Water Parameters
Maintain stable, reef-safe conditions to support polyp health and growth:
- Temperature: 24–26°C (75–78°F)
- Salinity: 1.025
- pH: 8.1–8.4
- Alkalinity: 8–12 dKH
- Calcium: 420–460 ppm
- Magnesium: 1250–1350 ppm
- Nitrates: 2–10 ppm
- Phosphates: 0.03–0.1 ppm
Euphyllia corals are sensitive to sudden swings—ensure all parameters are stable and changes are gradual.
⚠️ Placement Tips & Compatibility
Allow at least 7–10cm of space between torch corals and other species to prevent sweeper tentacle stings. Torch corals are aggressive to other corals but can be housed near other Euphyllia like hammers and frogspawns with care.
Handle with gloves and avoid touching the flesh directly—damaged tissue can lead to infection or retraction.
